Lying in bed, drawing his last breaths, the very old man is making peace with the inevitable ending of his journey. This miniature piece of work is actually the self-portrait of the very old aged artist sculpted to the greatest detail and scaled to 1:3 of the real size. The mechanism that simulates the breathing adds to the impression and enhances the deep universal topic of life and death.
